Beginner Survival Guide: Top Tips for New Operatives

Starting out in R.E.P.O. can be intimidating, but with a few proven tips you'll soon feel right at home. This guide highlights the basics every new operative should know—borrowed from seasoned players and our own adventures.

Essential Survival Tips

  • Loot smart: Focus on high‑value items first and avoid overloading your cart. A heavy cart slows you down and makes you an easy target.
  • Stay quiet & hidden: Move slowly, crouch when possible and gently close doors. Loud footsteps and slamming doors attract monsters.
  • Know your exits: Memorise escape routes and keep them clear. Don't wait until things go wrong to plan your retreat.
  • Work as a team: Assign roles such as scout, looter or defender, and communicate constantly. Coordinated teams survive longer.
  • Manage stamina & health: Keep an eye on your stamina bar and rest when needed. Carry at least one health pack and remember that teammates can revive you.
  • Use sound to your advantage: Throw bottles or other objects to lure monsters away from your path or create distractions.
  • Bank your loot early: Drop off valuables in your truck often. Items stored in the truck are safe—even if you get wiped.
  • Invest in upgrades: Spend your earnings on permanent upgrades like strength, range and stamina. These boosts pay dividends in later missions.
