Peeper
The Peeper is one of the first monsters new operatives will encounter. It appears as a floating, disembodied eyeball with tendrils that can teleport short distances. According to the official wiki, the Peeper hunts primarily by sight, disappearing and re‑appearing when it spots prey. It deals moderate damage but can be outmaneuvered with careful positioning.
Behaviour
- Line‑of‑sight predator: The Peeper will notice you when you enter its cone of vision. It ignores sounds and will not respond to footsteps or thrown objects.
- Teleportation: When aggroed, it teleports rapidly to close the distance, making it hard to outrun in open areas.
- Short attack range: Its melee attack has a limited range; breaking sight behind cover will reset its target.
Strategies
- Stay hidden: Use walls, pillars and furniture to break line‑of‑sight. Crouching or hiding reduces detection time.
- Watch corners: Check around corners before entering rooms. Because it teleports, the Peeper can appear unexpectedly.
- Bait and dash: If spotted, lure the Peeper into a wide area, then break vision by ducking behind obstacles. It will teleport to your last seen location.
- Avoid noise focus: Don’t waste your time throwing objects; noise doesn’t distract this monster.
